future children,

I've spent a lot of time with my family this summer, and I realized a nice piece of symmetry in my dad's side of the family. My dad's oldest sister, Heather, has six boys, no girls (excluding in-laws).My dad's youngest sister, April, had six girls, no boys (also excluding in-laws).And if I had to choose between all girls or all boys, I'm not really sure which way I'd go. But then, I don't have to choose - and whoever you are, we'll have a good time when you get here, okay?

love you,

- your awesome mom

To my future children:

this is my outline for one of our past assignments. I took up two entire dry erase boards in addition to this one. These things are kind of intense.
I get my midterm for legal writing today. To me, this midterm carries about as much comedic material as genocide - so I'll pass on the hilarity of my weekend situation, and just share with you what my legal writing professor said in Wednesday's class. After helping us prioritize our research, writing, and editing schedule, she said, "You will have freak out moments. Own it. Really freak out. Just remember that it’s going to be okay." I'm a worrier. I stress out about absolutely everything, but I'm trying to be better. I hope by the time you show up and start needing advice like this, I'll able to give it and have us both believe me. If not, I'd like to be able to say, "Baby - I love you - go talk to your father."

to my future roommates -

This is a delicious Pacman/pistachio cookie from a Persian bakery. Yesterday after a hearing, we needed to find a Halal place for lunch, and we found Yetka Kabobi in Rockville, Maryland. I ordered Shish Kabob that came with tons of incredible rice. SOOO good. Anyway, it is next to a Persian grocery store and a bakery, so I bought a bunch of cookies; these were my favorite.
I talk in my sleep sometimes. That should probably be embarrassing, but Hilary tells me I don’t do it very often, and that it’s mostly funny. Last night = not funny. I had bad dreams and I woke up screaming. Literally screamed and jumped out of bed sweating and crying, and then I was standing there, confused and disoriented, and my nose started bleeding. I think its because I have a sore throat and fever so, you know, rush of blood to the head. I hate being sick. Bad dreams.

Too much for a first impression? Well, I think it’s only fair you know what you’re in for.
