Dear Santa,

my roommates put Christmas in our living room while we watched White Christmas. I sat on the couch and worked on my criminal law outline... yes, I can see how that makes me a terrible roommate.
This year for Christmas I'd like some guilt-free free time. I want to read Catcher in the Rye and the Economist. And nestle in bed watching movies. And start filling out job/internship applications for the summer. I'll eat hummus and and drink hot chocolate, and not really care about anything except for how I'm going to decorate my apartment and what I'm going to wear on New Years Eve. I think my (hilarious and beautiful) friend Molly has it right: the problem isn't so much that I have no free time - it's that I feel guilty for every single second that I don't spend studying. This year for Christmas, it would be great it just relax.

Dear Santa,

I wanted to thank you for all the cool stuff - even though I wasn't necessarily, entirely "nice" all the time last year. Sometimes I was naughty. :( That being said, I was wondering if you could swing by DC again. I know you just left, but I was thinking, if you're still up? maybe maybe you could bring me a really big blanket and a new camera (I'll find my old one, but in the meantime, I've already been the the White House today and I wished I had it. I'm pretty sure I'll also want it tonight for dinner). And if you stopped by the West, you could pick up my favorite scarf... And Cary, bring him too.

Dear Santa,

Yesterday I said I wanted the way Christmas Eve used to feel, and you brought me footsie pajamas. I have never been sent more immediately or happily into my childhood than I was last night, surrounded by my siblings, wearing a onesie, waiting for Christmas morning. You are an absolute genius.

Thanks,
britt

Dear Santa,

(rad vintage postcard)
I know it's kind of last minute, but I was thinking about "the perfect gift" you could bring me for Christmas. Writing these kinds of letters was easier when all I wanted was my very own copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Now I want other, more complicated things.
  • Could you do my law school applications?
  • Could you unpack all my college stuff and then repack the right stuff into a suitcase?
  • Could you give a few key people weekend flights to DC? Beginning with a California-DC flight for New Years?
  • Could you make my morning insecurities go away?
  • Could you bring me the way Christmas Eve used to feel? Magical. Restless. Innocent.
I supposed in the absence of all that, I would really love a pair of fancy shoes.

Thanks for everything,
britt
